
The Chairperson of Enugu State Civil Society Forum (ESCSF), Mr. Nebo Obinna Collins, while addressing the news men in Enugu State commends the approved payment of 8-month inherited salary arrears of the Enugu State College of Education workers by Enugu State Government.
According to Mr. Nebo, “the action of Enugu State Government is a welcome development geared towards improving the living condition of workers, especially those contributing to knowledge development of the state.” He further stated that the peace experienced within the political ranks in Enugu State helps to draw the attention of the current government to key issues affecting the welfare of the people, unlike what is happening in some other states across Nigeria.
Mr. Nebo said that “Governor Mbah has demonstrated great commitment to actualizing his campaign promises by accepting to offset salary arrears worth N467m.” This measure is not limited to other bold steps made by the government so far.
The Chairperson of Enugu State Civil Society Forum (ESCSF) pledge to ensure strong collaboration between the civil society groups and Enugu State Government, with intentions to foster peace, development, and progress of Enugu State. He said that both the civil society and government work for the people, and the group will continue to serve the best interest of the people by holding the government accountable. He implore the Enugu State Government to ensure transparency and inclusive government, where the contribution of the civil society organizations will be inculcated into the state government development programmes.
