Enugu State Government On The Right Pedestrian To Greatness – Nebo Obinna Collins

The current leadership in Enugu State, led by His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State has demonstrated commitment in making Enugu State great again. I am happy to share this as an indigenous person, after interacting with my colleagues and partners working in the development sector.

First, I must commend the Governor of Enugu State for making the right choice of persons in his appointment so far; most importantly the appointment of the State Secretary General, Professor Chidi Onyia, who is a renowned technocrat and goal getter, in achieving the strategic goals of Governor Mbah’s administration.
Most development partners have expressed their confidence in working with Governor Mbah’s administration as a key partner. This information came up after series of interaction between the officials of the Enugu State Government and Actionaid Nigeria, coupled with other prominent development partners and the British High Commission in Nigeria.

Recall, that Governor Peter Mbah at the inception of his administration, promised to address the issue of water scarcity, invest in capital projects, support the education sector, improve the internally generated revenue, and enhance the well-being of Enugu people. These promises have being placed into practical actions by the gains made so far to address water issues in Enugu. Governor Mbah has invested in road maintenance and upgrade across the 17 Local Government Areas in Enugu State. There is reformed tax system in Enugu, 30% of Enugu State Government 2024 budget is for the education sector, United Kingdom Visa Centre in Enugu, establishment of Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission, numerous attracted foreign direct investments, recovery of forfeited Enugu State assets, ongoing rehabilitation of Enugu State Conference Centre, and other development gains made in less than 11 months after swearing as a Governor.

However, the development partners have classified Enugu State as the most peaceful, and promising state in the Southeastern part of Nigeria, courtesy of Governor Peter Mbah’s commitment to the people of Enugu State. It is highly commendable to see the Government of Enugu State standing tall to attract the attention of the world through her unquenchable desire and pursuit for public service delivery.

I strongly posit that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s led administration will take Enugu State to a greater height, with her policy of “The People First”. I implore our good people of Enugu State to support the compelling vision of this current administration in improving our welfare and social systems, to ensure that we benefit the dividends of democracy.
So far, the actions of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah are moving towards the right path, and I hope, this zeal and burning passion for good governance will continue as we advance towards placing Enugu State on the map.
