The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal, convened in Umuahia, delivered a unanimous ruling on Tuesday, dismissing the petition filed by Chief Frank Chinasa, the Labour Party candidate. The petition aimed to overturn the election of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, a distinguished representative of the Bende federal constituency who also holds the esteemed position of Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Samson Paul Gang, found the petition to lack merit and therefore rejected it outright. This decision reinforces the validity of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu’s election victory, as well as his continued role as the Deputy Speaker.
