Enugu state government has prohibited the use of unauthorized tinted car windows in a move to counter criminal activities, including kidnapping.
The ban is contained in a statement issued and signed by the secretary to the state government, Chidiebere Onyia, in Enugu, who said the ban is in alignment with the State government ‘s determination to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The ban takes effect from September 4th, 2023, to afford owners of vehicles with tinted glasses, who did not obtain tinted permits from the police before the suspension of its issuance on 7th, 2021, enough time to remove or have them replaced if they are factory fitted.
According to Mr. Onyia, “Defaulting vehicles shall be impounded by the enforcement task force and shall not be released to their owners until the tinted glasses are removed or replaced and the specified fines paid.”
