A 24-year-old pregnant lady, Mrs Abigail Eguta, has been apprehended for allegedly br¥talising her seven-year-old nephew for failing to recite the English alphabet in Anambra State.
The nursing mom was apprehended after concerned neighbors took the the victim, identified as Sunday, to the office of the state women and social welfare commissioner, Ify Obinabo, on Tuesday, May 16.
Sunday is said to be the son of Mrs. Eguta’s biological sister who she brought him to live with her barely a year ago, SaharaReporters reports.
According to the report, the boy, whose body is dotted with scars of previous inj¥ries inflicted on him by his guardian, had been out of school for a long time.
Mrs. Eguta claimed she b€at the boy for eating the fish she bought for Sunday meal. She also confessed to b€ating him on Monday for not reciting the English alphabet correctly, adding that it was the main reason she w%unded him.
“I am very sorry. I didn’t intend to bl¥nd him or b€at him in the eyes, but I mistakenly did so. Please, forgive me, it is the handiwork of the devil,” she said.
