Chief Ikeje Asogwa: A Square Peg in a Square Hole

One of the greatest undoing of political leaders or any leader at all, in this 21st century, is to undermine the power of the social media. This is because with social media, varying degrees of people now has a voice to express their opinion on societal happenstances, irrespective of their social class and stratification.

Sometime in January 2020, I called the attention of the Executive Chairman of Enugu State Universal Education Board (EN-SUBEB), Chief Ikeje Asogwa on the state of affairs of one of the buildings in Robinson Street Primary School, Uwani Enugu, through various WhatsApp platforms. He replied in one of the groups within 15 minutes of that publication, promising to take action. And to cap it all, within six months of that publication, the building was not only fixed, but upgraded to a storey building!

That’s typical of Chief Ikeje Asogwa, very proactive and responsive to his responsibilities. I don’t want to go to his enviable and steering achievements in Enugu State Housing Development Commission, which he’s also replicating in EN-SUBEB with poise and plume. That will be a thesis for another day!

PDP and her Gubernatorial candidate, Barr Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has one leg already in the Lion Building, Government House of Enugu State, with the appointment of Chief Ikeje Asogwa as her 2023 Gubernatorial Campaign Director General. The appointment is a testament of the fact that Dr Mbah is ready and prepared to take tough decisions for the right reasons in his quest to sustain Enugu State developmental trajectory.

Congratulations Chief Ikeje Asogwa on your appointment. As usual, I look forward to your midas touch as we prepare for Enugu State of our dream. While I use this medium to appeal to Enugu PDP supporters, stakeholders and Ndi Enugu of all works of life to rally round him in this onerous task. The work is definitely going to be tough, but with your support, advice, constructive criticism, and admonition; victory is sure.
