BREAKING NEWS: Popular Human Rights Lawyer Inibehe Effiong Sent To Prison.

Inihebe Effiong

According to Barrister Inihebe Effiong “The Chief Judge of Akwa Akwa Ibom ordered a Premium Times reporter to leave the court. I said my lord, we were thinking that since the proceeding is public, that members of the public should be allowed to observe the proceeding. My Lord asked me to proceed with cross examination.

I obeyed. I informed the court that I was not feeling comfortable and safe having two armed mobile policemen seated inside the courtroom, that it was strange and that I felt unsafe. I applied for the judge to excuse the armed policemen from the courtroom.

The Hon. Chief Judge then ordered me to step out of the Bar, that she was sending me to prison. She then ordered the policemen to take me to Uyo prison. And that I should be in jail for one month. I am waiting inside the courtroom for them to bring the conviction warrant.

I will be going to the Uyo Correctional Centre now. I have not done anything. I wasn’t even opportunity to say anything before the “conviction”. Two lawyers in court appealed to the Hon. Chief Judge but my Lord insisted that I must be jailed.” Source: Inihebe Effiong on Facebook.

Corrupt judge trying to silence, the the system they have sworn to protect, from just that very circumstance. How Nigerian government, and High court respond to this will be an integral part of history.

What makes it worse is, whole other officials try to empower more women, into places if authority, this judge has now empowered the very system that is against her a woman having an authorities, high position that has empowered her
Instead of making history, in Nigeria, for positive forward motion, in Society known for corruptness, she has made it harder for smart dedicated women to succeed. A disgrace to all societies. If you serve for justice e you should be willing to die for justice and righteousness. It appears all this judge had in mind was more money in her pocket. Not a warrior not an intelligent human been, just a narcissist after the riches others reap.

Hmnn! Good riddance to bad rubbish. Inihebe is guilty of what offence? Are we in a kangaroo country where a judge is free to commit innocent people to prison at will detrimental to principle of fair hearing. Inihebe should appeal the conviction as the conviction is against the principle of justice, equity and fair play.
